Autel AutoLINK AL329 — OBDII Engine Code Reader
The Autel AutoLINK AL329 is a compact OBDII engine code reader designed for DIY vehicle owners and entry-level shop use. It handles the basics well: read and clear engine trouble codes, check I/M emissions readiness status, and display live and freeze frame data — all through the vehicle's 16-pin OBDII port. It works on domestic, Asian, and European vehicles from 1996 forward.
If a customer wants to know why their check engine light is on without paying shop diagnostic rates, the AL329 is the tool for that job. It reads engine codes only, not transmission or body systems — but it does that job cleanly with a color display and straightforward button navigation.
What the AL329 Does
- Read and clear engine DTCs — current, pending, and permanent codes
- One-Touch I/M Readiness check — single button checks whether vehicle will pass state emissions testing; LED indicator gives instant pass/fail indication
- Freeze Frame data — captures sensor values at the moment a fault code was set
- Live data stream — view real-time OBDII PIDs while the vehicle is running
- AutoVIN — automatically reads VIN on 2006+ vehicles and displays vehicle-manufacturer specific codes when found
- Retrieves VIN, CALID, and CVN — vehicle identification, calibration ID, and calibration verification number
- MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) status reading

What It Does NOT Cover
The AL329 reads engine system codes only. It does not read transmission, ABS, airbag, or body control module codes. For full system coverage, step up to Autel's scanner tablet lineup (MS909 S2 and above). The AL329 also does not support Mode 6 enhanced OBD monitoring — the AL539 covers that if needed.
