Autel G-BOX3 Key Programming Adapter
The Autel G-BOX3 is the current-generation key programming adapter for Mercedes-Benz and BMW vehicles, designed to work with Autel's MaxiIM IM608 and MaxiIM IM508 tablets. It handles the most difficult key programming scenarios — All Keys Lost (AKL) on Mercedes DAS3 CAN EIS/EXS vehicles and ISN reading/writing on BMW DME/DDE modules — at speeds significantly faster than the previous generation.
What the G-BOX3 Does
Mercedes-Benz All Keys Lost (AKL)
For Mercedes-Benz vehicles with the DAS3 CAN EIS/EXS system, the G-BOX3 enables All Keys Lost programming with several key advantages:
- Faster password calculation — approximately 4x to 8x faster than the previous G-BOX2
- Eliminates repeated EIS insertions during the AKL process — a significant workflow improvement over older methods
- Programs keys on the vehicle without removing the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS) — no dash teardown required on applicable vehicles
BMW DME/DDE ISN Reading and Writing
For applicable BMW vehicles, the G-BOX3 supports:
- Boot Mode — direct DME/DDE ISN reading and writing via the boot pins
- Bench Method — module removed and connected directly on the bench for programming
BMW ISN reading is a required step in many BMW key programming procedures — without the ISN from the DME, you cannot complete the key programming. The G-BOX3 handles this when standard OBD methods are blocked or unavailable.

Compatible Tablets
The G-BOX3 is compatible with:
- Autel MaxiIM IM608
- Autel MaxiIM IM508 — requires the XP400Pro key programmer (sold separately) for full G-BOX3 functionality
If you are running an IM508 without the XP400Pro, the G-BOX3 functions will not be fully accessible. The IM608 includes the XP400Pro by default in most configurations.
G-BOX3 vs G-BOX2 — Should You Upgrade?
If you are currently using a G-BOX2, the G-BOX3 upgrade is worth it for shops doing regular Mercedes and BMW AKL work. The 4x–8x speed improvement on password calculation alone saves meaningful time per job. Eliminating repeated EIS insertions also reduces wear risk on the vehicle's ignition switch during the programming process. The BMW Boot Mode and Bench Method capabilities are new with the G-BOX3 and not available on the G-BOX2.
